Mouth Guards

Mouth Guards

What are Mouthguards?

Mouthguards are protective dental appliances that cover the teeth (and sometimes gums) to shield them, the soft tissues (tongue, cheeks), and jaw from injury—commonly used during contact sports, high-velocity activities, or for patients who grind their teeth (bruxism).

A properly fitted mouthguard provides cushioning, energy absorption and distribution in the event of impact, thereby reducing the incidence and severity of dental and orofacial trauma. The American Dental Association (ADA) strongly recommends custom-fabricated mouthguards (Type I, per ASTM classification) for optimal protection.
